Welcome To The National Kenjukido Federation
What is Kenjukido?
Kenjukido - The Way of The Power of The Gentle Fist - is a system of strikes, kicks, throws, nerve manipulation, and joint locks that can generally be employed in a rapid 1-2-3 approach to self defense. That is: 1. Avoid the attack, 2. Take control, and 3. End the fight. Kenjukido is more a way of thinking than it is a set of hard, fast rules based on traditional martial arts. Like any martial art involving strikes, kicks, throws, nerve manipulation and joint locks, Kenjukido uses the basic techniques known to most martial arts practitioners and builds on them through a series of principles - balance, flow, tool to target, zone defense, and muscle memorization.
Latest News
Two new schools have signed with the National Kenjukido Federation. Both are Calvary Martial Arts schools in Tennessee. Headed up by Sensei Richard Jackson and Sensei Phillip Vandiver. See their photos on the photo page and see them in action in the Summer 2007 issue of Dragon News and a seminar in the Winter edition. More seminar photos on the photo page. It was a great visit - great folks in Tennessee - Master Blauser and I enjoyed making the trip.
Sensei Brian Blauser, who has studied under Master Buddy Garrett for 10 years, was awarded the title of Renshi, placing him over all other National Kenjukido instructors. He has opened a Women's Self-Defense class at his church in Beebe, Ark., in addition to his other teachings.
Sensei Erica Blauser is now Sensei Erica Sirratt, having gotten married in December to Jimmi Sirratt. Hopefully Jimmi will take lessons in Kenjukido just so he and Erica can grapple over whose turn it is to carry out the garbage. Good luck to both of them.

My Personal Message To You
I began my martial arts career 35 years ago. I studied in Korea, in Okinawa, and through the military's hand-to-hand combat training. I have met some of the nicest people in martial arts and I'm here to help you achieve your goals.
Come and join our family. I look forward to meeting you - via the internet, or through video tape, or someday in person. Keep the Warrior Spirit.
Buddy Garrett - Kocho Sensei
Benefits of Membership
When you join the National Kenjukido Federation you will receive one set of patches - the first patch is the National Kenjukido Federation patch along with the Golden Dragon Self-Defense Academy patch. GDSDA is the only school licensed by the NKF to teach Kenjukido. All other schools must align with GDSDA in order to teach the material. There is no extra charge for this. Your yearly membership ($50) covers both the NKF and GDSDA and includes your school's charter (must be brown belt or higher).
Also, you don't have to change the name of your school. We would appreciate any recognition but that's up to you. One way would be to say your school is affiliated with GDSDA. Another way, if you have not named your school, is to call it Golden Dragon Taekwondo of Jacksonville - something like that.
As an instructor, you can test up to 3rd Degree via videotape. Contact us for a list of requirements. You will need to provide copies of your current highest rank certificate, a testing fee of $35 per rank (colored belt) and $50 (Brown Instructor/Black Belt), and a video (VHS format) showing you in action on the mat. We will provide written requirements and you are welcome to dazzle us with additional material.
For Military, Police and Security Personnel
You can be awarded rank based upon your military, police, or security training. Contact me for details.
